1945 年和平後，鏞記酒家由銅鑼灣遷往砵典乍街 30 號 A，1965 年再遷往威靈頓街現址。1946 年，中國酒家在先施公司六樓及七樓開業，可筵開百席。每晚九時入席前燃放一長炮竹的聲响，整個中上環區及半山為均可聽到。
當時位於中環的著名酒家，還有德輔道中的山珍和特別，皇后大道中 88 號的鑽石，娛樂戲院大廈二、三樓的京華飯店，以及位於鴨巴甸街 2 號的新均益，約於 1950 年改名為山海。
